VEINOT, Ralph Allen

2021-06-12

Age 82, of Upper Northfield, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021, in North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia, where he had been residing. Born in Maplewood, he was the eldest son of the late Maynard and Gertrude (Webber) Veinot.

He was a self-employed carpenter for most of his life. He volunteered with the LaHave River Trails Association, Lutheran Camp Mush-a-Mush and Citizens on Patrol; and was a past member of the Central Nova ATV Club. He loved fiddle music and took lessons for a few years. There was never an old tractor that didn’t get dragged home, repaired and resold and there was nothing he couldn’t fix up, patch up or cobble up.

His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he loved nothing better than spending time with them and teaching them about the things he loved. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Louise Anne (Silver); daughters, Mary (Arden) Wagner, New Germany; Jane (Rodney) Taker, Pinehurst; grandchildren, Tiffany, Elaina (Mike), Brandon (Rebecca), James (Brooke); sisters, June (Mervin) Rhodenizer, Miriam (Merle) Rhodenizer, all of Maplewood; Sharon (Wade) Carver, Middle Cornwall; Sheila Veinot (Frank Oickle), North River; brothers, Ivan (Sharon) Veinot, Scarsdale; Rex (Bonnie) Veinot, Maplewood; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Faye in infancy.

A private family graveside service was held in the Old Northfield Cemetery, Upper Northfield with Rev. Brooklyn Lane and Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Queens Nursing Home, Central Nova ATV Club, LaHave River Trail Association or a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 Highway 10, New Germany, where on-line messages and condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
