FRANCIS, Lucy Evelyn

2019-07-24

It is with great personal sadness that the family of Lucy Evelyn Francis, 90, announces her passing on Wednesday July 24, 2019, at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. She was born in Hermitage, NL, and was the daughter of the late Walter and Bertha (Rose) Harris. Lucy was a faithful member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, and over the years was a member of the Altar Guild and supported the work of the Anglican Church Women. Her love of life, family and friends, and the community at large were so important to her. She was a golden thread of love spun invisibly through all our hearts and lives. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Roland) Lilly; sons, Raymond (Mary) Francis, and Hubert (Dianna) Francis all of Lunenburg; grandchildren, Shannon (Robert), Sherri (Liam), Rodney (Kim), Ryan (Brittany), Michael (Alexandria), Terry (Jamie-Lee), Shawn, Nicholas (Jessica), David (Alicia), Stephen (Lisa); and 15 great-grandchildren; grand-daughter-in-law Coleen; sister, Margaret Blagdon, Coombs Cove, NL; brother, Wesley (Donna) Harris, Hermitage, NL; sister-in-law, Clara Harris, Hermitage, NL; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Oliver, grandson, Jeffrey Lilly, brothers Hubert and Gordon. The family of the late Lucy Francis would like to thank everyone who looked after our mother, especially Dr. Tara Millen, Axel Salie, and the LPNs at Fisherman’s: Dashia, Amy, Trish, and Kevin, for taking extra care of our mother while she was a patient on the medical floor. We would also like to offer our thanks to Mike Zinck and staff of Dana L Sweeny Funeral Home for their excellent care and service in support of the family during this difficult time. We would like to also extend a very special thank you to Reverend Laura Marie of St. Johns Anglican for visitation at the hospital and officiating the memorial service. After a private family committal at Hillcrest Cemetery, the family shared memories of her life at a reception hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary at the Lunenburg and Distract Fire Department. Memorial donations were made to St. John’s Anglican Church and Diabetes Society of Canada.
