ZAKARIASSEN, Muriel Gertrude

It is with great sadness that the family of Muriel Gertrude Zakariassen, 98, of Garden Lots announces her passing on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Ryan Hall Nursing Home, Bridgewater. Born in Blue Rocks, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Barbara (Richardson) Whynacht. Muriel was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg. Muriel (Mom) met and married “Zakie” who was stationed at Camp Norway during the war. They sailed on the Queen Mary to Norway where they lived for a short time, returning to Lunenburg to make their forever home. She loved to bake and garden and her craft festivals were always something she looked forward to. She brought smiles to all those around her with her kind heart, witty conversation and joke telling. Other times all that was needed was a coloured pencil and blank canvas. All of these smiles will endure as loving memories of a generous soul. She is survived by her son, Arnold and his wife Gail of Rockland, ON; sister, Winnie (Michael) Rybak, Chicago; grandchildren, Denise (Justin) Tremblay, ON and Ryan (Jennifer), ON; great-grandchildren, Emilie and Eric; sister-in-law, Isabel Whynacht, Lunenburg. Muriel was predeceased by her husband, Einar and a brother, Gordon. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date at the Lower Blue Rocks Cemetery.
