WOUNDY, Edward "Ted" William

2018-11-07

We, Ted's parents, have lost our dearly beloved and only child. The phone calls on Fridays..."Hey! just checkin in", to the e-mails to let you know, "I'm again checking in to Club VRH" (Valley Regional Hospital) for a few days and not to worry, driving himself there each time, to the final call from "VRH" around 7 p.m. on November 7, 2018, saying the four words no parent would ever want to hear: "your son is dying". Maybe with age, you get a bit out of touch, but we thought only months previous, that we had a healthy, vibrant musician for a son. And as we saw him becoming very ill, we still trusted with the many prayers from all of us, including our church family, and the knowledge and help of his health care professionals in Halifax and Kentville, that this would see him through to renewed health, but it wasn't to be. To this end, we want to acknowledge and thank everyone who helped us in any way. Thanks to the DeMont Family Funeral Home in Windsor for their kindness and help (the funeral director being a former student of Ted's), to the Royal Canadian Legion, Hants County Branch 009, to the Cocoa Pesto Bistro for the delicious food they provided at Ted's Celebration of Life. Arranged help from the Nova Scotia Teachers Union and others to Avon View High staff and students, in the loss of their music teacher. Thanks also to past principal, Phil Van Zoost, who believed in Ted years ago and hired him full time at Avon View. Thanks also to all the colleagues and students and band parents and all Ted's and our friends and family for supporting us at this very difficult time. Thanks for all the e-mail condolences, (we have a book full printed off), voice mails, the many cards, letters, phone calls and delicious food brought to our home, donations made to charitable causes, flowers and small precious momentos. The famous bear hugs are gone, but we have some good memories, and a lot of comfort comes also from knowing that Ted had a very positive impact on a lot of young people through his love of music and a desire to pass it on to anyone he could; the condolences sure confirmed that. Also, the many concerts we attended at his school through the years, told of the abilities his students showed us. Thanks again to one and all.
