OSTLI, Bruce Whitford

2024-01-26

Bruce Whitford Ostli passed away peacefully at home January 26, 2024, with his wife Pam and best friend Cosette by his side. He courageously fought a three-year battle with cancer. He was 73.

Bruce lived his entire life in Chester where he worked at the NSLC for over 30 years until his retirement in 2005.

Bruce was a “car guy” and was well-known for his love of Corvettes. He was very creative, often making things to give as gifts or to brighten up his home and yard. He enjoyed golf, especially with his good friends Dave, Terry and Bobby who had more fun than any foursome on the course. But, he was most happy in the company of his beloved brother Dave, the Payne family and great friends Chris and Joanne.

He was loved and respected for his kindness, his smile and his sharp wit and sense of humour which he kept until the very end. Bruce was a loving husband and a true and loyal friend.

Bruce was predeceased by his parents Trygve and Edna (Whitford).

He is survived by his wife Pamela (Crawford); sisters Mari (Peter) Ostli-East, Anne (Robert) Lee; brother David (Peggy); brothers-in-law David and Jimmy (Erin) Crawford; and his nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank South Shore Palliative Care, VON, Dr. Dobek, and the many cancer specialists who helped Bruce through this journey. By request, there will be no celebration of life. In his memory, help someone smile with a kind deed or a donation to Chester Volunteer Fire Department or Chester PRO Kids.

Rest in peace, Bruce. Loving you was easier than anything I'll ever do again.
