MCKINNON, Michael Gilbert

It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Gilbert McKinnon, 64 of Wileville, announces his passing on Friday, June 4, 2021 at home after fighting a courageous battle with cancer for five years.

Everyone knew Mike of his loving personality and sense of humor. Mike drove a truck for most of his life from oil trucks to building supply trucks and also worked at Lunenburg Foundry for several years.

Mike was the son of the late Harry and Norma Elaine (Rafuse) McKinnon.

Mike leaves behind a loving wife, Wendy Barnes, formerly of Blue Rocks, two children, Adam (Jillian) McKinnon, West Chezzetcook, daughter, Sarah (Ryan Billard) McKinnon, Corner Brook, NL.; three grandchildren, Wyatt Stewart, Oliver Michael and Isla Mae; sister, Ann (Kent) Meisner, Venice, Florida; and a brother, David (Brenda) McKinnon, Greenfield.

He was predeceased by a brother, James.

Special thanks to all the Medical Staff that cared for Michael. Thanks to Dr. Catherine Kelly for her kindness and compassion and to Mike Zinck for his understanding and kindness.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions a celebration of Michael’s life will be held at a later date.
