2023-05-17

It is with great sadness that the family of Lavinia “Lee” Georgette Forward, 80, of Dean’s Corner announces her passing on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Glace Bay, Lee was the daughter of the late William and Laura (Caty) Forward.

Lee started her earlier working career at the Fish Net in Lunenburg and went on to operate with her husband Harold, H&R Taxi for many years. After Harold’s passing she moved to the Blockhouse Hill Apts and for the last ten years lived with her granddaughter, DJ, who gave much of her time to care and look after her grandmother.

Lee enjoyed being around people and she was a member of the UCW of the First South United Church, was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing bingo and could be often found doing jigsaw puzzles and watching a good game show.

Her love of life, family, friends and the community at large, were so important to her and she will be greatly missed.

Lee is survived by her daughters, Maureen (Robert) Veinotte, Maitland; Debi (Bob) Wood, Coquitlam, BC; son, Cameron Hill, Abbotsford, BC; grandchildren, DJ, Robi, Tamara, Leanna, Lyndsay, Codi, and Chelsea; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Viola and Betty; goddaughter, Kathy Tibbo; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harold in 2002; son, Duane; brothers and sisters, Henry, Joyce, Joe, Clarence, Jean Ann, Thelma and Alfred, and Raymond in infancy.

A memorial service to celebrate Lee’s life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 3, Lunenburg. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Breakfast Program of the Bluenose Academy or to the family.

The family would like to thank the Lunenburg County Home Support, VON, Dr. Blaine Beaton and the staff of the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital for their dedicated care and concerns of Lee over the years. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
