VEINOTTE, Maurice Bennett

It is with great sadness that the family of Maurice Bennett Veinotte, 91, of Lunenburg and formerly of Union Square, passed away, Monday, September 11, 2023, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Union Square, he is the son of the late Bennett and Alice (Ernst) Veinotte.

Maurice spent his youth in Union Square and then went on to the Teachers' College in Truro where he graduated as a teacher and taught for 27 years first in one-room schools throughout Lunenburg County and later taught in Halifax County and Shelburne County, and retired after teaching a number of years in Labrador. In earlier years Maurice was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and in later years faithfully attended Faith Baptist Chapel, Centre.

Over the last number of years he was a regular supporter of reading at the Lunenburg Adult Day program.

Maurice is survived by his brother, Lawrence (Dorothy) of Bridgewater, special niece, Linda Brown, Chester, and many other nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Jessie and Florence; and brothers, Gerald, Carroll, Clinton, Murray and Stuart.

A service to celebrate the life of Maurice was held Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 3 Lunenburg, Pastor Steve Hiltz, officiated. Interment followed at the Union Square Cemetery.
