It is with great sadness that the family of David John Wagner, 79, of Stonehurst, announces his passing on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Stonehurst, David was the son of the late Fred and Katherine (Romkey) Wagner. David started his working career as a fisherman with National Sea Products and then went fishing as an inshore and deep sea fisherman. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church, Blue Rocks and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. David enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by daughters, Sharon (Robert) Corkum, Blue Rocks; Donna Hawco, Big Lots; sons, Robert (Annette), Garden Lots; Brenton (Collette) Stonehurst; stepchildren, Beverley Flynn, Cole Harbour; Dorothy (Ivan) Dahl, Bridgewater; Winifred (Leo) Boutcher, Mount Pleasant; Wendy (Lawrence) Dobbin, AB; Linda Backman (Lorraine Lohnes), Mount Pleasant; step-daughter-in-law, Mary Kidson, Spectacle Lakes; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; special friends, Aileen and Susan Tanner. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanette; second wife, Dorothy; brothers, Warren, Cecil, Merrill; sister, Irene Tanner; and stepson, David Kidson; son-in-law, Paul Hawco. Funeral Arrangements were under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Highway 3, Lunenburg and from where visitation was held on Friday, August 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service to celebrate David’s life was held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Church, Blue Rocks, Rev. Heather Ferrier officiated. Interment in Lower Blue Rocks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul’s United Church or the Lower Blue Rocks Cemetery.
