NAUSS, Ernie Leroy


68, of Canaan, Kings County, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of Lily (Nauss) Veinotte, Kentville (formerly Blockhouse) and the late Nearus Nauss. He had been employed as a fisherman out of Lunenburg and also worked as a cook on several boats with the Cate Keltic being the last. He was a kind hearted man who would help anyone with any task. Ernie had a great sense of humour and loved to tease, especially his mother and granddaughter Callista. He especially enjoyed making people laugh and was a great story teller. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his girlfriend, Norma Webster; a daughter, Christa Nauss (Blair Doucet), Sackville; a son, Doug Nauss, Bridgewater; their mother, Valerie Nauss; two sisters, Diana (Albert) Caines, Blockhouse; Jane (Brenton) Dorey, Hebbville; three brothers, Gordon Nauss (Joanne Ullock), Blockhouse; Zedrick “Ted” Nauss (Janet), New Minas; Earl Nauss (Melodie Allen), Ontario; two grandchildren, Hunter Rafuse and Callista Doucet; step-grandson, Darcy Doucet, several nieces and nephews, Aunts , Uncles and extended family. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Frankie Veinotte; a sister, Violet Swinimer. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service, by request. There will be a memorial at a later date when Ernie’s cremated remains will be scattered at sea. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
