MOSHER, Warren M.

2024-03-08

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Warren M. Mosher, 92, of First South, NS, on March 8, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1931, he was the son of the late Maurice and Mildred (Fryatt) Mosher.

Warren lived a long and well lived life. He was an accomplished carpenter, and builder of many homes in Massachusetts and Nova Scotia. Although he grew up in Newton, Massachusetts, he had a deep connection to Bayport, Nova Scotia, where his father was born. Maurice moved to Massachusetts at an early age to find work. Warren spent many summers with his grandparents in Nova Scotia.

He attended Acadia University in 1950 where he played basketball and then joined the US Navy in 1951 serving in the Korean War. In 1951, he met the love of his life, Phylis Conrad. Together they raised their four children in Newton, Massachusetts until 1975 when they moved home to First South.

Warren enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play many sports. “O’Pa” loved them very much and was very involved in their lives. He coached soccer and was recently inducted into the Lunenburg County Sports Hall of Fame, at the age of 91, with the 1984 Lunenburg Laser Girls Soccer Team. Warren loved golfing, boating and family gatherings. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and his favourite New England Patriots. His memberships with the “Sons of the Seas” Barbershop Quartet, Masons, Shriners, and various choirs were fondly cherished by him.

Warren passed on many of his carpentry skills to his son and grandsons. He very much enjoyed his family building projects. After moving back to Lunenburg, he and Phylis made many trips to Massachusetts and enjoyed many winters in Venice, Florida.

Warren is survived by his four children, Tanis MacDougall (Bill), Paula Himmelman (David), Conrad Mosher (Darlene), Nancy Tanner, his eight grandchildren, Dewar MacDougall (Jessica), Liberty MacDougall, Andrew MacDougall (Lesley), Kelly Himmelman (Danny Clarke), Laura Himmelman, Ryan Himmelman (Meghan Burke), Julia Mosher (Chris Zinck), Nicolas Tanner (Jenna) and his seven great-grandchildren, Nina, Mac, Henry, Gracie, Gabe, Luca and Ben. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Kinsella, Pam Burgess (Kevin), Deborah Dangelo, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Bob Kinsella, his niece Suzanne Kinsella and his son-in-law, Trevor Tanner. Predeceased by Phylis, his loving wife of 68 years by only 41 days: this loss sadly left Warren with a broken heart.

Dad, your spirit continues to live on through all of us and the generations to come. We miss you and love you forever! Hold Mom tight till we meet again.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Heather Robertson, the nurses and the staff at South Shore Regional Hospital for their wonderful and compassionate care.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 3, Lunenburg, where a service to celebrate Warren’s life was held Friday, March 15 at 2 p.m. Rev. Rick Pryce officiated. Interment at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore or Rosedale Home For Special Care. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
