2021-04-13

Kurt Anthony Wentzel, age 64 of New Cumberland Road, Lunenburg County, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 13 after a long struggle with cancer.

Kurt is best known as “the happy farmer” who sold pasture-raised meat at the Lunenburg Farmers’Market and many other places locally. His dedication to his customers and his animals kept him going through these past years in spite of the challenges he faced.

In his free time, he liked going for scenic drives and walking in the woods. He loved nature and was an avid reader of wilderness adventure as well as constantly researching new ways to improve his farm systems.

A son of the late Ronald Wentzel, he is survived by his mother, Mona Wentzel (nee Creaser), brothers Greg (Linda) and Larry (Barbara), many loving nieces and nephews, son Jake (Melissa), stepson Callum (Juliette), grandchildren Perin and Ada, and long-time, dedicated friend Pam.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. A service will be held at Kurt’s farm at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Health Services of the South Shore, Palliative Care Unit, or a charity of your choice.
