It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Ann Louise Cook, 84, of Bridgewater, announce her passing on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Valley Hospice, Kentville.

Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Muriel (Conrad) Hubley.

Mary Ann spent her working life at Riverport Seafood’s where she was employed as the payroll clerk up until her retirement in 1994. She loved to knit, crochet and enjoyed the occasional game of Bingo. She also had one of the most beautiful flower gardens in the neighbourhood, a labour of love she continued even after her move to Bridgewater, just on a somewhat smaller scale.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Kathryn (Steven) Boyd, Bridgewater, Cindy (Donald) Whynot, Lower LaHave; son, Steven (Sarah Jane) Siteman, Lower Rose Bay; grandchildren, Melanie, Natalie, Jonathan, Rachelle; many great-grandchildren; sister, Joan (David) Johnston, Halifax; brother, David Hubley, Chatsworth, ON, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald “Michael’ Cook and great-grandson, William.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 3, Lunenburg. A memorial service to celebrate Mary Ann’s life will be held at Bridgewater Baptist Church, Bridgewater on Thursday, March 28 at 1 p.m. Pastor Aaron Kenney officiating. Interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to Bridgewater Baptist Church, Valley Hospice or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Valley Hospice; all doctors, nurses and volunteers for taking such special care of Mary Ann and for all their kind support provided to us.
