HARLOW, Robert Charles: 52, Bridgewater, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on March 31, 2018 after losing a valiant fight against leukemia. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of Maxwell Jr and Shirley (Lantz) Harlow. Rob was employed at Michelin North America in Bridgewater. During his 28 years of service, Rob was a dedicated hard worker who took great pride in his job as a machine operator and trainer. One of Rob’s true passions in life was music. He learned to play the guitar at an early age and carried a talent and love for it all throughout his life. Another of his greatest pleasures was sport fishing. He spent many happy hours enjoying being in the outdoors, fishing for trout, bass and mackerel. Rob will be lovingly remembered as being funny, generous and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Surviving are his wife, Barbara (Himmelman), Bridgewater; mother, Shirley Harlow, Bridgewater; brother, Kenneth Harlow, Bridgewater; sister, Heather Taylor (Dana), Kentville; father-in-law, Parker Himmelman, Bell’s Island; sister-in-law, Susan Himmelman, Bridgewater; nieces, Nadine Balcome (Ian), Grafton; Hollie Butler (Matthew), Kentville; Carla Hatt (Jeremiah Frank), Bridgewater; nephews, Chad Taylor (Jennifer), Kentville; Chris Taylor (Shanda), Coldbrook; several great nephews and nieces. He is also dearly missed by his dog Teeny, who was a most loyal companion and kept a close vigil all during Rob’s illness. He was predeceased by his father, Maxwell Harlow Jr.; paternal and maternal grandparents; mother-in-law, Helen Himmelman; nephew, Joel Hatt and great niece, Hannah Taylor. Arrangements have been entrusted to C.F. Sweeny’s Funeral Home. Funeral service to be held on Thursday, April 12 at 11 a.m., in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Bridgewater. A reception will follow. Private family interment at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only. Memorial donations in Rob’s memory may be made to The Lodge That Gives, Bridgewater, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or a charity of choice. Thank you to the staff of the 8th floor Centennial Building; the staff of the 4th floor Victoria Building; Dr. J. Hebb, Dr. W. Hasegawa, Joanne Edwards, as well as all the doctors that attended to Rob during his stay on 8A and 8BMT; the staff of the Emergency Department and Ambulatory Care at SSRH; the paramedics with the EHS special patient program; Dr. J. Livingstone and staff. A very special thank you to Dr. D. Gowan, and Noeleen Reilly of Palliative Care; the nurses of VON, Lunenburg County, as well as several dear friends and family for all their excellent care and help in making Rob’s wish to remain at home possible.
