It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald Anthony Andrew Covey, 93, Bridgewater and formerly of Indian Path, announce his passing on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Ryan Hall, Bridgewater.

Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late James and Anne (Shea) Covey.

In his earlier years, Gerald delivered groceries in Halifax and then moving to the area worked with Lorne Romkey in Riverport. He then drove a school bus which many folks will remember for his long service transporting kids to and from school, a job he really enjoyed until his retirement. In later years he was employed as a mechanic at Centre Consolidated School and at the School Bus Depot in Bridgewater.

Gerald enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time at home with family, helping a neighbour ploughing snow or preparing a garden.

Gerald is survived by daughters, Judy Covey (Keith) Levy, Rose Bay; Lindia (Kim Smith), Lower Sackville; sons, Garnet, Cornwall, Gary (Karen) Bridgewater; Danny (Trudy), Yarmouth; sister, Mary Norten, Windsor; brothers, Vincent Covey, John Kane, both of Halifax; grandchildren, Stephanie, Melissa, Sonja-Lee, Sirena, Amy and Adam, and three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Masie in 2013, brothers, Jim, Tom, Frank and a sister, Helen.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 3, Lunenburg. A family graveside service for Gerald and his wife, Masie was held at Sunny Valley Cemetery, Centre on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
