Iconic Petite Riviere General Store burns in early morning blaze

The iconic Petite Riviere General Store caught on fire in the early morning of September 9. Two people and a dog were able to escape safely from an upstairs apartment.

Sirens could be heard around 2 a.m., according to freelance photographer and frequent LighthouseNOW contributor, Peter Josephson, who got some shots of the blaze.

The Petite, LaHave, Pleasantville, Conquerall Bank, Hebbville, Italy Cross, United Communities and Bridgewater fire departments all responded. Dayspring Fire Department was on standby, according to Dahl Dispatch on Facebook.

At this time it's not known how the fire began or the extent of the damage to the building.
