Multiple occupants of two vehicles involved in a January 18 crash in Bridgewater required medical assessment, including at least two people who needed to freed from the wreckage.

Just before the lunch-hour, emergency crews, including paramedics, the Bridgewater Police Service, and the town's volunteer fire department, were sent to a section of north King Street, on the town's west side, where a Pontiac Wave and Nissan Rogue collided head-on.

The incident resulted in a temporary closure of King Street between the intersections of Victoria Road and Starr Street.

It's believed volunteer firefighters on scene used specialized extrication tools to open a vehicle door and move a dashboard to free some occupants.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the accident, nor the condition of the injured people involved.

Police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
